JADE

Jade’s love for dance started at the age of 3 when she arrived at her first ballet class. She spent most of the class crying because she was wearing jeans, whilst all the other children wore pink skirts...

One pink skirt and 5 years later, Jade was selected as one of 16 children to train as a junior associate with the Royal Ballet. She completed 4 years in their programme and having built a strong foundation in classical ballet techniques, she became curious to explore other disciplines including Contemporary, Jazz, and Hip Hop.

Over the next 10 years, Jade continued to study, perform and compete in some of London’s famous spaces such as the Theatre Royal Dury Lane, the Royal Opera House and the Hackney Empire. With 18 years of dance training behind her, Jade begun teaching and choreographing performances for Vestry School of Performing Arts sharing her love and passion for dance with both children and adults alike.

Jade had her first taste of Latin dancing in 2006 with a Salsa class and was instantly hooked on social dancing. She loved that such a diverse group of people were learning to dance as much as she loved the rhythms and steps. Jade spent the next 10 years studying and eventually teaching Salsa and Bachata before finally discovering her true love Brazilian Zouk.

Jade found that unlike other social dances. she was able to utilise a greater spectrum of her dance skills in Zouk from her extensive training as a solo dancer. It was this possibility that fuelled a detailed study to fully understand the magic and mechanics of Brazilian Zouk from the footwork, to the body movements, to the flavour. Jade observed that for those with the right knowledge and experience, Brazilian Zouk creates new and endless possibilities for movement in social dancing.

Jade loves that Brazilian Zouk can be danced by anyone and everyone, whilst also providing the possibility to challenge even the most experienced dancers. Jade leverages her extensive dance knowledge and teaching experience to acknowledge and address the increased technical demands of Brazilian Zouk versus other Latin dances and helps her students to bridge the gap between social and solo dancing. Jade places a strong focus on technique to advance skills safely whilst also experiencing all the fun Brazilian Zouk has to offer.
